We wrote last week about the new Android-based phones that are hitting the market. News is now hitting the tubes stating that Motorola and Nokia are jumping aboard the Android wagon as well.
Apparently, Motorola is going to devote up to 350 developers to start working on Android applications, etc. for its line of phones, and Nokia (although it bought Symbian, a competing OS), is still keen on figuring out how Android will fit into its future.
Why Android? Google understands how the browser has become The Way that users interact with data and others. Android does a great job of making the browsing experience come alive on small devices like your phone. Because Android is an open-source platform, there is a large and growing base of crowd development and code sharing potential. So what? Open source means that the phone makers don’t need to pay dollars for licensing fees to the OS-owner (ie. Apple or RIM). In a world where every cent counts–this is key.
I am a PC (and I am Steve Ballmer and all sweaty) September 20, 2008

OK–it is Saturday–so here is something fun. You have all seen the Apple ads touting the Mac versus the PC guy. Well, Microsoft is gunning big with its Seifeld and Gates comedy dou–and now they have CEO Steve Ballmer screaming about being a PC. Ballmer if, if anything, passionate.
These ads are intriguing to me. There is still an incredible amount of offline ads that are pushing people to purchase operating systems and hardware for usage online. These ads end up online, of course, but most people still see them on TV.
